Kevin was born in the Bay Area and has lived there most of his life, with time spent in New Orleans and San Diego. A lifelong golfer, he began playing at age 10 and competed on his high school team. After attending Tulane University for two years, he transferred to Santa Clara University, graduating in 2000, and later earned his law degree in 2005. Kevin is currently a Trust & Estate Litigation Partner at Fennemore LLP, a Western U.S. law firm with 350 attorneys across 22 offices.


He met his wife, Jessie, in 2014 while practicing law in San Francisco. Jessie, a Los Angeles native, moved to Montecito in 1994. Her parents now reside in Hope Ranch after losing their home in the Montecito mudslides. The couple married at Jessie’s family ranch in Livingston, Montana, in 2017, and welcomed their son, Leon, in 2022. Following his birth, they relocated to Santa Barbara, where Kevin opened a new firm office. The family now resides in the Samarkand neighborhood and spends summers at their Montana home. Jessie, a professional musician with a culinary degree, has worked across the food and wine industry and is exploring a new business venture while returning to her music career. Leon, age 3½, attends Garden Preschool.

Ron & Nancy Hays

Santa Barbara native Ron Hays graduated from SBHS in 1957, attended SBCC and Cal State Northridge, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps. His career included leadership roles at Sambo’s and Carrow’s Restaurants before founding Ronald Hays Realty, which he ran until retiring in 2000. A passionate pilot, Ron logged over 3,300 flight hours and flew more than 120 Angel Flight missions delivering medical supplies to Mexico. Nancy worked as a legal secretary at Price, Postel & Parma and later co-managed Sambo’s in Palm Springs. She owned and operated The Bear’s Picnic Delicatessen in Santa Barbara from 1975–1987. Both are certified scuba divers and avid travelers who enjoy hiking, swimming, and cycling. Married since 1961, they have shared 64 wonderful years together.

Joe & Page Plowman

Joe and Page Plowman are lifelong Santa Barbara residents with deep family and community roots. They met in high school. Joe is the owner of Plowman Capital and serves as a Director at Mission Linen Supply. He is also an active member of the Santa Barbara County Search and Rescue (SBCSAR) team and the founder of the Santa Barbara Search and Rescue Foundation, which supports the team’s operations and outreach. Page is a preschool teacher at All Saints-by-the-Sea and grew up playing tennis at LCC. 

 

The Plowmans have long-standing ties to La Cumbre through Page’s grandfather, Ben Page, and her mother, both of whom were members. They’ve attended events over the years as guests of family and close friends who are active members. Their son is joining the Laguna Blanca High School golf team, and Joe looks forward to returning to golf with him. The family views La Cumbre as a natural and meaningful extension of their life in Santa Barbara.

Glenn grew up in Chico, California, and graduated with High Honors in History from UCSB (1973). He studied abroad in Macedonia and at the University of Göttingen, Germany—an experience that deepened his appreciation for democracy and free enterprise. He earned his J.D. from California Western School of Law and began as Director of the Legal Aid Foundation of Santa Barbara before moving into private family law practice. Glenn retired in 2021 after decades helping families navigate challenging times. He and Barbara, longtime tennis players, began golfing 12 years ago and were previously members at Calabasas and North Ranch Country Clubs. Residents of Santa Barbara for over 40 years, they are excited to join La Cumbre. They have two daughters, Jeanine and Clare, and four grandchildren in Idaho and Santa Barbara.

Bill, a Southern California native, completed medical training at UCLA and has practiced ophthalmology in San Luis Obispo since 1990. A lifelong golfer, he also enjoys swimming, cycling, boating, and traveling with his wife, Betsy. Betsy is a retired elementary school teacher of 34 years, passionate about travel, Pilates, yoga, gardening, and painting. They have four adult children and one grandchild. Though they live in Shell Beach, they spend most weekends at their Hope Ranch home and plan to retire full-time in Santa Barbara soon.

Scott and Susan met at Stanford University and later earned law degrees from Berkeley (Scott) and Stanford (Susan). Scott spent 40 years at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, co-chairing the Media, Entertainment & Technology group and helping build one of the nation’s top pro bono programs. He has served as President of several organizations, including Wilshire Boulevard Temple and the American Jewish Committee in Los Angeles. Now retired, he enjoys tennis, pickleball, fitness, and golf. Susan clerked for a judge, practiced law, and now focuses on philanthropy—serving on the board of Para Los Niños and co-chairing the Hillcrest Women’s Luncheon. Married over 30 years, the Edelmans recently purchased a Hope Ranch home and look forward to joining the Santa Barbara community.

Childhood classmates who reunited at their 25th high school reunion, Gary and Vicki are now celebrating 30 years of marriage. Gary, a pathologist, moved to Santa Barbara in 1981 and later founded Santa Barbara Pathology Laboratory, which grew into Central Coast Pathology before merging with Sonic Health USA. He also taught pathology at USC and led instrumental research in the development of the cancer drug Keytruda. Vicki, his lifelong partner and “CFO,” has shared his passion for community and golf at La Cumbre.

Joe moved to Santa Barbara in 2005 and established the first Structural Heart Disease program on the Central Coast. He specializes in catheter-based treatments for complex heart disease, including coronary artery disease and valve replacement. His initial attraction to the community was rooted in his passion for golf, which he has been playing since the age of eight. During his training at UCLA, he frequently drove to Santa Barbara to play at local courses. He currently plays golf three times per week and travels extensively to play at various courses. He has also had the opportunity to play regularly at La Cumbre Country Club.



Dr. Benita Tjoe, who completed her internal medicine training at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital, spent two years specializing in women’s heart disease at Cedars-Sinai before moving to Honolulu to finish her cardiology training. The couple got married in September 2024. Together, they have traveled widely to enjoy golf, and it is their goal to have a course near their home that will allow them to play regularly, despite their demanding work schedules in cardiology.

Richard and Michele have been married for 23 years. They have a son, Auden (21), who is currently attending the University of St. Thomas in Houston, and a daughter, Lulu (18), who will begin attending the University of Colorado Boulder this fall.


Richard was born in Inverness, Scotland, and grew up and attended college in Edinburgh. After graduating, he worked as a civil engineer for several years before transitioning into subsea engineering, with a focus on deepwater projects. He has worked in subsea and offshore engineering for over 25 years.

Michele was born and raised in Houston and is a graduate of the University of Texas. Richard grew up in a golf-loving family and spent a lot of time on the course with his dad—though, despite all that time, he still considers himself a pretty terrible golfer. The couple has been searching for a retirement home in the Santa Barbara area since before COVID and hope to make a full-time move within the next few years

Christina and her husband moved to Santa Barbara in 2008 and returned to 2016

following a brief relocation to Los Angeles for her career. She is a partner at a Los

Angeles based law firm, where she has practiced for the past fifteen years.

Currently, she serves as the West Coast Chair of Katten’s Securities Litigation Practice – a role she considers both an honor and a significant responsibility. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling and reading. Most importantly, she is a proud mother to nearly five-year-old Ella, who is completing her first year at Laguna Blanca.
