Golf Update
Congratulations to Katie Crook and Tracy Jenkins, our 2026 Women's Club Champions. Katie captured the Gross Championship with a strong final-round performance, while Tracy earned the Net Championship following an outstanding two days of play.
The Women's Club Championship once again provided great competition and showcased the talent and camaraderie that make golf at La Cumbre so special. Click below to read the full championship recap and view the final results.
The 2026 Women’s Club Championship concluded in spectacular fashion today with a closely contested final-round battle between Katie Crook and Kelley Slaught.
Katie entered the day holding a one-stroke lead after the opening round and got off to a steady start with two solid pars. After dropping a couple of strokes through the opening four holes, she responded impressively with a birdie on the 5th to regain momentum.
Both players battled hard through the front nine, with Katie extending her advantage to six strokes at the turn. Kelley, a two-time champion, showed tremendous determination and resilience on the back nine, gradually clawing her way back into contention. Through 14 holes, she had reduced the deficit to just three strokes and was applying significant pressure.
Katie responded when it mattered most, increasing her lead to four strokes on the challenging 16th hole. With both players matching scores on the final two holes, Katie's advantage held firm, securing a four-stroke victory over Kelley.
Congratulations to Katie on capturing her first Women’s Club Championship title. Her composure and consistency throughout the championship were impressive, and this may well be the first of many championships in her future.
A special congratulations also goes to Kelley Slaught, whose grit, determination, and competitive spirit ensured a memorable finish to this year's championship.
We would also like to recognize Chris Portney, who earned Low Gross honors for the final round with an outstanding score of 84 on Day 2. Well played, Chris.

The Net Championship certainly did not disappoint, with Tracy Jenkins leading the field after an impressive 41-point opening round that included a gross 37 on the back nine.
Tracy continued her outstanding play on Day 2, recording net birdies on two of her first four holes. A lone net bogey and four net pars helped her compile another impressive front-nine total of 19 points. She opened the back nine with a net par before an uncharacteristic net bogey, but quickly regained momentum, carding three net birdies over her final seven holes. A strong finish of 20 points on the back nine gave Tracy 39 points for the day and an outstanding two-day total of 80 points.
Jane Lodas finished in sole possession of second place after posting two excellent rounds for a total of 76 points.
Third place was decided by the narrowest of margins, with Linda Story, Chris Portney, and Alison Hedge all finishing tied on 71 points. Following USGA retrogression procedures, Linda Story claimed the prize thanks to the stronger back-nine performance in the final round.
Congratulations to Tracy Jenkins on a dominant performance and a well-deserved Net Championship victory. We would also like to recognize all of our competitors for their excellent play and sportsmanship throughout the championship.

Finally, thank you to all the members, family, and friends who came out to watch and support the players throughout the championship. Your encouragement and enthusiasm added to the atmosphere and helped make the event so special. We also appreciate everyone who stayed afterward to celebrate with our competitors during the trophy presentation and recognize the achievements of this year's championship field.

Member Event Spotlight: Kinotek Functional Movement Assessment Experience
We're excited to invite members to a special wellness event featuring Kinotek, an innovative movement assessment technology designed to help people move better, identify limitations, and stay active and pain-free throughout life.
Join us on Wednesday, June 17th from 2:00–3:30 p.m. to learn more about this cutting-edge system and have the opportunity to receive a complimentary movement assessment from a Kinotek specialist.
At La Cumbre Country Club, we believe that maintaining your health and mobility isn't just about exercise. It's about understanding how your body moves so you can continue doing the things you love for years to come. That's why we're excited to introduce our members to Kinotek and explore the potential benefits it could bring to our community.
Using advanced LiDAR camera technology, Kinotek can quickly analyze movement patterns and provide objective feedback on mobility, balance, movement quality, compensations, and potential asymmetries. Assessments take only seconds to complete and can offer valuable insight into how your body functions during everyday movements.
One of the features we find most exciting is the personalized reporting. After an assessment, participants receive easy-to-understand results that highlight strengths, movement limitations, and opportunities for improvement. This information can help guide exercise programming, injury prevention strategies, mobility work, and overall wellness planning.
Whether you're an avid golfer, tennis player, fitness enthusiast, recovering from injury, or simply interested in maintaining your independence and quality of life, understanding how your body moves is one of the most valuable investments you can make in your long-term health.
This event is also part of our ongoing effort to explore new tools, technologies, and services that can enhance the member experience. We are continually looking for opportunities to expand our wellness offerings and provide meaningful resources that help our members live healthier, stronger, and more active lives.
We hope you'll join us for this exciting opportunity to learn more about your movement health and experience firsthand how technology can support your wellness journey.
New Group Fitness Class Offerings
NEW CLASS ALERT: Shoulder and Upper Back Strength & Mobility
We're excited to introduce a new class focused on building stronger, more resilient shoulders while improving how you move and feel day to day.
This low-intensity class takes place Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:45 a.m. and focuses on mobility, stability, and control through targeted shoulder and upper back work. You'll move through guided exercises designed to improve posture, reduce tension and discomfort, and support healthy, pain-free movement in everyday life.
It pairs perfectly with the Balance and Stability class immediately before it, creating a great one-two combination for building a more capable and resilient body without the strain of a high-intensity workout.
Perfect for all fitness levels, especially anyone looking to move better, feel better, and stay consistent.
Saturday HIIT & Circuit Training
We're also excited to be adding a new HIIT/Circuit Training class on Saturday mornings every other week.
This 50-minute class will offer a fun, challenging, and efficient full-body workout designed to build strength, improve cardiovascular fitness, and keep your training fresh. The cost is $20 per class.
Please be sure to sign up in advance so we can plan accordingly. Pre-registration helps us ensure appropriate staffing, equipment setup, and overall class experience. If we do not have enough members registered ahead of time, we may need to cancel that week's class.
More details and scheduling information will be coming soon, so be on the lookout.
With love,
Jarratt and the Fitness Team
